 The carrier arrived used - by another pet August 26, 2010

I brought a yorkie home on Saturday from a rescue center and ordered this on Sunday so I could carry my yorkie around. The item arrived yesterday (Wednesday). First I thought it was strange the main tag was being held together to the product by a bread bag tie (those little red ties that close a bread bag).
Then, I tried to get my yorkie to go inside and he completely refused. It was impossible and I didn't want to force him in. At one point I looked closely at the removable lining on the inside bottom and noticed a small stain. I immediately pulled out the lining and saw foreign hair all over the bottom. It was black, coarse cat-like or dog-like hair . . . yorkies don't shed and if they did, it would be very thin, soft and short.
I am really disgusted by this - I order at least 1-2 items from Amazon a week and I've never had a bad experience.

The carrier I received must have been defective because the screen next to the zipper on one end seperated from the seam and my pet could have gotten out. Amazon did replace it for me, they are very reliable with the products they sell, but I don't know that I would suggest that anyone buy this product. We ended up holding the carrier on our lap on the plane to keep our toy poodle from getting out.

I used this carrier twice recently on domestic routes, once to transport a 13-pound dog and once to transport a 4-pound puppy, both on small commercial jets [CRJ and Embraer]. It worked well for both. It was comfortable for me and for both dogs.
I particularly like the small zipper on top that lets me put my hand in without any danger of the dog escaping. The only problem was that the double zippers at both ends came equipped with a plastic snap buckle that was too flimsy and broke right away. Both buckles quickly lost one of the two teeth making them useless. If you buy this carrier, you can sew heavier buckles onto the zippers or carry big safety pins with you.
I bought a little collapsible rubber bowl [Popware for Pets Expandable/Collapsible Travel Cup, Small, Turquoise] and attached it to the carrier with a carabiner to have it available at all times. This is handy since you can't bring liquids with you past security. You can easily fill the little bowl after security.
I have also used this carrier to bring my dogs into stores and no one ever suspects I have a dog. This is a very discrete piece of luggage. I made a loose-fitting lightweight black privacy veil that fits over the top mesh of the carrier. With this in place, no one can see in and the dog can't see out to get distressed by too much stimulus. Even the airline personnel didn't know I had a dog in the carrier until I told them.
I carried the carrier on both a CRJ small jet and an Embraer. It fit comfortably under the very small seats of both. It also fit in the airline sizers, Delta and American Eagle. The flexible internal frame was very helpful in getting the bag to fit.

Product is everything it says it was. Easy access and durable. Unfortunately, only problem I had was that my puppy was a bit scrunched while standing, but she is a bit tall so I guess that was expecting. Although, while lying down she seems comfortable. Good product.

This is a great bag to take your dog on the go. It has clips to hold the zippers closed so the pet cannot escape. My Miniture Schnauzer is about 10 lbs. now and has room to turn around if he wants to although it is tight. He seems to love sleeping on the pad that comes inside. When this bag is left on the floor with the door down, he sometimes is found inside napping. I take him to stores often with problems.
